Melissa Lea Beasley-Lee Albuquerque, NM - Bernalillo County The President is responsible for overall coordination of the Association, its Boards and Committees. The President calls and presides over meetings of the membership, Board of Directors and such other duties as established by Board Policies and Procedures. The President sits Ex-Officio on all committees of the Association. Melissa also covers duties not covered by others... and it can get exhausting! Route 66 National Scenic Byways Executive Director: (2015 - Present) Route 66 Road Ahead Partnership Board Member: (2017 - Present) -Created and introduced H.R.66 in congress = Establish a Route 66 Centennial Commission to direct and carryout the following: National Recognition of 2026 to be the 100th Anniversary of The Mother Road. Direct the Secretary of Transportation to prepare a plan on the preservation needs of Route 66. Study and recognize activities to be carried out by the Federal Government to determine whether the activities are fitting and proper to honor Route 66 on the occasion of its centennial anniversary. -Introduce bill to create New Mexico State Route 66 Centennial Commission and, -Serve as board member on New Mexico State Route 66 Centennial Commission NM Route 66 Association Current Duty Details: Route 66 State Representative: -Communicate and assist through phone, email, social media or meetings with anyone associated with the NM Route 66 Association -Communicate and assist through phone, email, social media or meetings with anyone nationally or internationally requesting assistance with Route 66 in New Mexico New Mexico Route 66 Association Museum & Visitor Center – Tucumcari. Opening July 2023: -Co-Founder -Co-Chair planning & building -Co-Chair/Creator of Visitor Center -Creator/Chair of Gift Shop -Assist in curating of museum Association Business (various): -Update Articles of Incorporation with NM Sec of State -Reevaluate and update bylaws -Add/Remove Authorized Signers for banking -Assist Treasurer when needed -Assist/stand in for secretary when needed -Oversee payments and security of storage unit -Oversee storage of association records -Submit letters of support to entities applying for govt recognition/designation (ex. Scenic Byway & All-American Road) -Submit letters of support for those applying for grants -Request & receive letters of support for NM Rt66 Assn Grants -Send all NMRt66 Assn grant letters of support to assoc. preservation officer -Pick up mail and distribute as needed (before VP took over. Now whenever VP needs assistance) -Deposit checks for Treasurer when needed or have collected checks on my own (ads & merchandise sales, donations, etc.) Board of Directors: -Recruit board members -Created voting page of website for Board of Directors elections -Created a current Board of Directors page on website Officers: -* Created Executive Vice President position to assist with growing duties. (*This title has been dissolved with the passing of standing VP, Tom Willis’s passing in 2021) -Work with VP, Treasurer & Secretary to assure all duties are overseen -Locate officer replacements when positions are vacating -Created a current Officers page on website (No new candidates for officers were received. Therefore, no voting page on website for Officers elections was created) Quarterly Meetings: -Schedule -Draft outline -Preside at meeting Committees: -Updated and/or carried on overseeing of committees: Membership & Visitors Services, Website Services, Social Media, NM Rt66 Magazine, Preservation -Created new committees: Written & Oral Preservation, Events & Promotion, Merchandising & Distribution, Route 66 Centennial (association committee/board) -Create new committees as needed. (presented and voted on by board) -Assist Committee Chairs when needed -Co-Chaired Annual Motor Tours since 2017 Heritage Preservation Awards: -Research Candidates -Gather votes -Schedule award presentation for each -Send out press release for each -Present awards at candidates business location Website: (Association is in search of a co-chair for web services to update as needed) -Worked with web designer on creation of new website in 2020 -Have been updating website since 2020, as time permits -Receive website emails and distribute to respective recipient (membership, visitor services, preservation, merchandising, magazine, etc.) -Created voting page for Board of Directors elections -Created a current B.O.D. page -Created a current Officers page on website -(No new candidates for officers were received. Therefore, no voting page on website for Officers elections was created) Merchandising & Distribution: (Association is in search of a co-chair for merchandising) -Historic NM US 66 Signs: Order, pick up, deliver, ship and store pick up signs and help distribute. -Distribute magazines, signs, and other merchandise to NM Route 66 businesses to distribute of sell -Stock Merc 66 with magazines, signs and other association merchandise -Create new association merchandise (New/updated association membership logo, stickers) Magazine: (Association is in search of a co-chair for NM Rt66 Magazine) -Email writers of deadline -Send out ad invoices -Locate new ad customers -Design ads as needed -Receive stories from writers -Line up stories -Locate/Choose Cover Photo -Edit stories when needed -Printing quotes & quantity -Approve quote & quantity -Layout magazine -Files to printer -Approve proof -Pick up magazines -Pay printer -Mags to mailing co (to members) -Calculate drop off numbers for each location based on quantity -Distribute mags to drop off personnel -Distribute drop off sheets to personnel with mags -Distribute any magazines not being dropped off by personnel -Remaining of magazines to storage -Post new issue cover on Facebook -Email new issue cover to personnel for twitter post -Post new issue cover on association website |
