Latest New Mexico Route 66 Brochures available Three more local, historic brochures have been completed for the state of New Mexico's Route 66 communities. Funded through the state Scenic Byway program and administered by New Mexico MainStreet (a division of the New Mexico Office of Economic Development), they cover historic sights and descriptions as well as a map for the communities of Los Lunas, Moriarty and Bernalillo. These materials are available upon request from the local Chamber of Commerce and/or Visitor Bureau. |   |
The work was accomplished through local volunteers and underwritten by local Tulsa Route 66 business owners. Pat Cowan and Marian Clarke, long time Route 66 enthusiasts, did most of the leg work, proofing and editing. Marian has written two cookbooks with historic information about Route 66: The Route 66 Cookbook and The Main Street of America Cookbook. The map and brochure are free if you send SASE (standard size) to the Tulsa Convention and Visitors Bureau, 616 South Boston, Suite 100, Tulsa, Oklahoma 74119-1298. Thanks, Marian Clarke! Give us your Names! Our Association is in the final stages of research of the people who built New Mexico's Route 66. The names will be part of a memorial to the men and women who built the Mother Road. Historic Route 66 continues to have a tremendous impact on our history, culture and economy. We want to include everyone who deserves to be honored. If you know of anyone who worked on the Route between 1926 and 1959, please share with our researcher/archivist Mo Palmer at (505) 294-1193, e-mail us at Mosue66@aol.com, or write us at 8120 Princess Jeanne NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110.
