Santo Domingo Pueblo

These Keresan speaking people are located approximately 38 miles North of Albuquerque along the old 1926-1937 alignment of historic Route 66. There are two stories of the contemporary name for the Pueblo. OÒate arrived on a Sunday to the village thus naming it "Holy Sunday". The second derivation story relates to the mission church commemorating

The Pueblo maintains a small museum and an Arts and Crafts Center. There is a service station and convenience store and local art and crafts booths depending on the season. On August 4, every year, the Pueblo honors St. Dominic, its patron saint, with one of the largest corn dances in the Southwest. A three day arts and crafts festival is held every Labor Day weekend.
