New Mexico Tribal OrganizationsSan Felipe PuebloLocated about 10 miles North of Bernalillo and just Northwest off, the peoples of San Felipe are probably the most conservative of the Keresan speaking villages. The original settlement katishtya, at the time of the arrival of Coronado in 1540, was located at the foot of Black Mesa. Visitors are welcome for the annual feast day for the Green Corn Dance every May 1st. Bead work and heshi or liquid silver are known crafts of the village. Their pottery revival has attracted much admiration by collectors. They operate a casino just East of I-25.
