Navajo Nation

There are a number of lands that make up the Navajo Nation today. At one time the Dinetah, Navajoland which was called by them the Tinetzen ,literally "among the Navajo," was the ancestral homeland which was probably much smaller than the current reservation today. The Navajo people call themselves the Dine, "the people." The Navajo comprise the largest number of Native Americans (over 120,000) of any tribal or pueblo group in the United States. The reservation in the four corners area is the largest in the United States covering 14,000,000 acres.

There are many sights to see on the reservation including the spectacular ruins at Chaco Canyon {(505) 786-7014}, the Bisti Badlands, Trading Posts that sell new and pawn silver and turquoise jewelry and the many rug auctions that occur throughout the year.
